Some gift cards and grocery store cards allow you to get free gas once you have reached a certain amount on your card. These cards are definitely worth checking out. It might not seem like you are saving a lot at first, but over a year span, you will see the savings add up.
Spark Plug Maintenance
Many don’t take the maintenance of spark plugs into consideration when trying to save money on gas, but this is definitely something you need to consider. Spark plugs are supposed to last up to 100,000 miles, but after 75,000 miles, many seem to start misfiring. So after 75,000 miles, consider changing your spark plugs. They’re fairly cheap and fairly easy to replace.
Don’t Drive Crazy
This one is for saving gas and for your safety and the safety of others. Drive like you should, don’t drive crazy. Driving crazy such as gunning the gas when you take off is just using up more gas. Burning tires, speeding, and gunning the gas are all ways that eats up your gas. Take off at a normal speed. You’re not in a restart in the Nascar race, so you don’t have to beat the person beside you off the starting line.

For example, if you have to run pick up the kids from soccer, go buy the grocery store, drop your child’s friend off at home, and then return home, plan your trip out so you’re not running back and forth across town three to four times. Make a round trip. This will help save on gas.

It’s best to research the town or nearby towns you live in for the cheapest gas. If a gas station 7 miles down the road from you has gas for 13 cents cheaper, it is work driving that distance to get the cheaper gas, especially if you are filling up. There are a few apps you can download on your phone that will locate the cheapest gas prices for you in your area. There’s an app called, “Gas Buddy” that is really good for finding the best gas prices in your area, and you can also enter the mile radius that you want it to check.
